The film “Skrzyżowanie,” starring Jan Englert and co-financed by the Kujawy-Pomerania Film Fund, presented in Vilnius.

As part of the “Meetings with Polish Cinema” series, the film Skrzyżowanie will be presented on March 9 at the Polish House in Vilnius. Special guests will include the lead actor and laureate of the Film Award of the Marshal of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region, Jan Englert, and the film’s director Dominika Montean-Pańków. The film received support from the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Film Fund.

Skrzyżowanie, directed by Dominika Montean-Pańków and starring Jan Englert, is an intimate psychological drama that focuses on human decisions, their consequences, and moral dilemmas. It tells the story of Tadeusz—an eighty-two-year-old retired hospital head physician. The quiet routine of his life is shattered by a tragic road accident in which he becomes involved. The event turns his life upside down and triggers a cascade of emotional consequences. Instead of the calm, carefully planned old age he expected, he must suddenly face one more—perhaps final—struggle: for himself, for his dignity, and for a “peaceful death” that he had once imagined very differently. The story revolves around a pivotal event that becomes the symbolic “crossroads” of the title—both literally and metaphorically.

The feature debut of director Dominika Montean-Pańków has received several important festival awards and attracted attention within the film community. At the Polish Feature Film Competition of the Mastercard OFF Camera International Festival of Independent Cinema, Jan Englert received the Best Actor Award, while the director was honored with the Female Voice Award.

“Meetings with Polish Cinema” is a cyclical film project organized at the Polish House in Vilnius. The program presents the newest and most interesting Polish feature and documentary films in the Lithuanian capital, often with the participation of filmmakers and actors. Since 2024, audiences have had the opportunity to watch artistically and socially significant films that often do not reach distribution outside the Polish cinema market. Screenings are frequently followed by discussions with directors, actors, and film creators. Previous editions featured films such as Strzępy and Utrata równowagi. The “Meetings with Polish Cinema” series is part of the broader cultural activities of the Polish House in Vilnius, which for many years has promoted Polish culture, language, and identity among the Polish community living in Lithuania.
