Investments 2026 – Landscape Parks

In the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region, we have as many as ten landscape parks. These are areas attractive both for tourism and nature, with many valuable historical landmarks. Preserving their unique qualities is regularly supported by funds from the regional self-government and from the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021-2027 programme. In the regional budget for 2026, PLN 29.5 million has been earmarked for this purpose. This is a significant financial boost that will enable landscape parks, among other things, to actively protect nature and carry out activities in the broad field of environmental education.

“Landscape parks are a treasure of our region. They are made up of magnificent nature with rare species of plants and animals, attractive places for hiking and water tourism, numerous rivers and lakes, and interesting tangible evidence of cultural heritage. Each of our parks is a wonderful place to relax, and the charm of these places means that many people are happy to return,” says Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

In the regional budget for the current year, PLN 29.5 million has been allocated for the operation of landscape parks, intended for both investment spending and day-to-day operations. An additional PLN 9.8 million has been set aside to cover the costs of maintaining landscape parks, of which:

  • PLN 7.6 million comes from the region’s own funds,
  • PLN 2.2 million comes from a state budget subsidy.

The expenditures planned for 2026 will enable landscape parks to:

  • implement the project “Green I know – green I care: environmental education in landscape parks” (the regional budget provides over PLN 2.2 million for this purpose). The project is implemented under the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021-2027 programme and will run from 2024 to 2028. Its main goal is to raise environmental awareness among residents of the region;
  • carry out natural and cultural inventories and evaluations within landscape parks and develop protection plans for landscape parks (the amount planned in the regional budget is over PLN 2.2 million) – the project is implemented under the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021-2027 programme. As part of it, 10 draft protection plans will be prepared, established for a period of 20 years, which will strengthen nature protection tools across all landscape parks.

As part of the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021-2027 programme, the landscape parks are also implementing projects of the regional self-government:

  • Tucholski Landscape Parkproject “Implementation of the functions of the Bory Tucholskie Reserve”, budget amount: PLN 7.9 million – expansion of the infrastructure of the Tucholski Landscape Park and extension of the educational offer by equipping facilities, creating a model “fire station” for wild pollinators and developing educational nature trails, as well as building accommodation facilities at the centre, which will serve an educational and promotional role (the facility is to be equipped, among other things, with an interactive underground educational hall);
  • Wdecki Landscape Parkproject “Identification and active protection of the heritage of the Bory Tucholskie Biosphere Reserve”, budget amount: PLN 4.8 million – construction of a building serving, among other things, educational functions, development of the centre’s grounds, creation of educational trails and rehabilitation aviaries.

Wdecki Landscape Park also received a four-hectare plot of land in Tleń from the regional self-government at the end of 2025. On it stands a 17th-century building that once housed the miller’s home and later, among other uses, a post office. The park plans for this place to serve an educational role and to integrate local governments and tourism service providers. The building is intended to function as a museum presenting the history, traditions and old customs of this part of the Tuchola Forest, as well as the natural richness of these lands. The area includes, among other things, diverse habitats (an oxbow lake, pine and mixed forests) and a more than 300-year-old monumental oak;

  • Brodnicki Landscape Parkproject “Increasing natural potential through active protection of selected bird and mammal species in the Brodnicki Landscape Park”, budget amount: PLN 900,000 – the project will enable the purchase of nesting boxes and bird feed, as well as equipment for monitoring cavity-nesting birds and bats, live traps for capturing raccoons and muskrats, outfitting an off-road vehicle and trailer with equipment, two electric bicycles, and developing an application to help manage tourist traffic;
  • The Association of Landscape Parks „Lower Vistula Valley”project “Increasing the region’s natural potential through actions directly related to habitat and species protection within the The Association of Landscape Parks Lower Vistula Valley”, budget amount: PLN 4 million – active protection of grasslands, meadows and pastures, as well as protection and study of the natural functions of traditional orchards. Active protection of selected animal species and inventorying of natural habitats. Purchases include: a trailer for transporting sheep and cattle, an off-road vehicle with equipment, a quad bike, chainsaws and mowers, a drone with a thermal imaging camera; construction of a garage; modernisation of fencing at the Murawy Gruczna ecological site; construction of two livestock capture enclosures; purchase and repair of a livestock building in Chrystkowo;
  • All landscape parks are implementing the project “Protecting biodiversity through the protection of pollinating insects”, budget amount: PLN 1.5 million – the initiative is intended to improve the protection of pollinating insects and identify the reasons for their decline in the region. Activities will include: inventorying, identifying threats, analysing the composition of honey, creating pollinator houses and flower meadows, running workshops and educational activities, developing good-practice guides, and preparing pollinator protection plans. The project leader is the Gostynińsko-Włocławski Landscape Park.
    More about the project: Pollination – crucial for ecosystems;
  • support from the regional government will also enable all landscape parks to carry out other nature protection tasks (amount planned in the regional budget: PLN 350,000) – including broadly defined environmental education in various forms such as conferences, competitions, eco-fairs, and educational programmes for children and youth.

There are currently 10 landscape parks in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region:

  • Wdecki Landscape Park
  • Brodnicki Landscape Park
  • Gostynińsko-Włocławski Landscape Park
  • Górznieńsko-Lidzbarski Landscape Park
  • Krajeński Landscape Park
  • Nadgoplański Millennium Landscape Park
  • Tucholski Landscape Park
  • The Association of Landscape Parks „Lower Vistula Valley”, comprising: Chełmno Landscape Park, Nadwiślański Landscape Park, and Góry Łosiowe Landscape Park.
