To Ciechocinek by train for one zloty

For a month now, the long-awaited rail connection to Ciechocinek has been operating. During this time, we have carried 6,000 passengers to our spa town. In June, we will launch a direct connection from Bydgoszcz, and from December one pair of trains will run regularly between Bydgoszcz and Ciechocinek.

“We are very happy to have resumed rail services to Ciechocinek. I am glad that this connection has improved the quality of life for residents, who are eager to use it,” says Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

Between Ciechocinek and Aleksandrów Kujawski, 13 pairs of trains run on weekdays and 10 pairs at weekends. The services are co-financed by the regional self-government, Aleksandrów County, the towns of Aleksandrów Kujawski and Ciechocinek, and the Aleksandrów Kujawski municipality.

For travel on the Aleksandrów Kujawski – Ciechocinek route, for another month (until 15 February) all passengers will pay a symbolic one zloty for a ticket. After this period, we will introduce a special offer for seniors aged 65+, under which the journey will cost only 4 zł.

Passengers travel to Ciechocinek on trains operated by Polregio, the company selected in a tender. Over the next five years, the regional self-government will allocate PLN 32 million to operate these services.

The ceremonial inauguration of the rail connections to Ciechocinek in December attracted a great deal of interest from passengers.

The launch of the services was preceded by renovation works on the railway infrastructure. The works on the seven-kilometre Aleksandrów Kujawski – Ciechocinek section were carried out by PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe. As part of the project, 12,000 railway sleepers were replaced, 8 rail-road crossings were refurbished, and the platforms in Ciechocinek, Odolion and Aleksandrów Kujawski were modernised. The project cost PLN 47 million.

Soon, the historic station building in Ciechocinek will regain its former splendour. This year, PKP SA – the company managing railway real estate – will begin renovation of the property. Until the investment is completed, passengers are served by a temporary station building.

Expenditure on passenger rail services by the Marshal’s Office in 2026 will amount to a record PLN 267 million. This is 12.5% more than in the previous year. This amount includes the costs of fees we pay for access to railway infrastructure and station charges – PLN 37 million.
