Goosia is the mascot of the World Indoor Championships
Athletics fans have chosen the name of the mascot for the World Indoor Athletics Championships Kujawy-Pomorze 26. The athletes will be cheered on in their quest for medals by Goosia the goose.
“I am convinced that our mascot will win the hearts of all athletes and fans. The goose combines the sporting spirit of competition, regional tradition, and the values of athletics,” said Marshal Piotr Całbecki during the mascot’s presentation ceremony.
The World Indoor Athletics Championships Kujawy-Pomorze 26 will take place on 20–22 March next year. It will be the second athletics event of this rank in Poland’s history and the first in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie region.
Preparations for the event are in full swing. At the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Arena Toruń, the venue of next year’s competitions, the renovation of the athletics track—adapted to World Athletics standards—has been completed. Work is underway on replacing the water and sewage system and renovating the roof. Upcoming tasks include upgrading telecommunication and IT infrastructure.
Volunteer registration has ended, with nearly a thousand people from various parts of the country and the world applying. The selection process is currently underway.
We have also met another HMŚ ambassador: Piotr Lisek, multiple world and European championship medalist in pole vault, has joined Adrianna Sułek-Schubert.
