Congratulations to the musicians

The International Music Day is an excellent opportunity to recognize and honor with awards from the voivodeship’s board those who have made outstanding contributions to the development of the region’s musical life.

At today’s (October 9) ceremony held at the Chopin Centre in Szafarnia (Golub-Dobrzyń County), the award recipients were congratulated by Vice-Marshal Zbigniew Ostrowski and President of the Regional Parliament Elżbieta Piniewska.

Music is an art form that, in its beauty, unites the diverse tastes of our voivodeship’s residents. I wish all creators, performers, and everyone involved in promoting music in our region unending passion and satisfaction in their work — in composing and bringing to life the sounds written in notes,” emphasized Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

During the event, congratulatory letters were presented to musicians and employees of the voivodeship’s cultural institutions — the Pomeranian Philharmonic, Opera Nova, the Toruń Symphony Orchestra, and the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz.

An award was also presented to Dr. habil. Anna Janosz, choir conductor and director of the Centre of Culture “Teatr” in Grudziądz, professor at the Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz and the Academy of Music in Gdańsk, who is celebrating the 45th anniversary of her artistic career.

International Music Day (October 1) has been celebrated since 1975 as a holiday for both the creators and audiences of musical expression across various traditions, styles, and sensitivities.
It was established at the initiative of the great violin virtuoso Yehudi Menuhin, who at that time served as President of the International Music Council, operating under the auspices of UNESCO (the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization).

The gala at the Chopin Centre in Szafarnia was graced by a concert by Aldo Duo — accordionist Aleksander Stachowski and clarinetist Dominik Domińczak.

The Marshal’s Office oversees seventeen cultural institutions, which offer a wide range of cultural programs:
