Health and joy of life!

Two residents of our region – Mrs. Jadwiga Nowak from Bydgoszcz and Mrs. Jadwiga Lutostańska from Stary Toruń – prove that the joy of life knows no age. Both ladies recently celebrated their 100th birthdays and were honored with the Marshal’s Medal Unitas Durat Palatinatus Cuiaviano-Pomeraniensis. Congratulations were extended to the jubilarians by regional board members Dariusz Kurzawa and Marek Wojtkowski.

May the kindness you share with others return to you, strengthened by the care, warmth, and attention of your loved ones. May each day bring joy, love, and support,” said Marshal of the Voivodeship Piotr Całbecki in his congratulatory message.

Memory, cheerfulness, and curiosity – Mrs. Jadwiga’s recipe for longevity

Mrs. Jadwiga Nowak, born on September 24, 1924 in Bydgoszcz, stood out from an early age for her inquisitiveness and excellent memory. During the war, she devoted herself to work and caring for wounded soldiers. Afterward, she tied her professional life to the railway, working for 35 years within PKP structures, most of that time at the Bydgoszcz Główna station.

Despite professional and family responsibilities, she never stopped learning – in adulthood she earned the title of economic technician. She is known for her warmth, empathy, and sense of humor. She remains interested in the world and current events, enjoys walks, and loves reading the classics of Polish literature.

Jadwiga Lutostańska – independent and enterprising

Mrs. Jadwiga Lutostańska (née Siemianowska), born October 1, 1925 in Wiewiórki (Wąbrzeźno county), is the youngest of eleven siblings. Life did not spare her challenges – during the war she found herself in Mazowsze, where she met her future husband. After the war, they ran a farm together. She has always been resourceful and energetic – for many years she successfully sold the fruits of her work at fairs and markets.

She loved gardening and handicrafts, and she remained active throughout her life – even after turning ninety she was still driving a car, and earlier she rode a motorcycle. Valued by her family for her cheerfulness and independence, she continues to follow the world around her with interest.

Since 2018, the regional government has been honoring residents who reach the age of 100. Families of residents soon to celebrate their centenary, as well as those already over 100, are encouraged to get in touch by phone at 56 62 18 344 or by email: stulatkowie@kujawsko-pomorskie.pl.
