They know the village, its needs and aspirations.
Last Wednesday (18 June), village leaders from the Sępoleński district, which has 79 villages in four municipalities, received marshal’s badges. Dariusz Kurzawa, a member of the regional board, met with rural leaders in Sępólno Krajeńskie. Photos.
‘We want village leaders, who are most familiar with the problems and needs of local communities, to have a significant influence on how money allocated for the development of non-urban areas is managed, including within our participatory budget (the CLLD mechanism, i.e. community-led local development),’ – emphasises Marshal Piotr Całbecki.
There are 2,304 village leaders in Kujawsko-Pomorskie. The regional government considers them to be important partners who, among other things, support the marshal’s administration in the implementation of territorial policy. In December 2024, the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Council of Village Leaders, appointed by the regional government, was established. This 120-member body, created on the basis of recommendations from commune heads, acts as an advisory body to the regional marshal on issues related to rural development.
The meeting at the Culture and Arts Centre in Sępólno was another event of this type. The badges, established in 2023 to emphasise the rank and importance of the function, were received by village leaders from the districts of Aleksandrów, Lipno, Golub-Dobrzyń, Rypin, Mogilno, Inowrocław, Bydgoszcz and Toruń.
