A mobile planetarium, experiments and Mateusz Gessler’s culinary space fantasies – we had an eventful Saturday in Grudziądz. On 14 June, the inhabitants of the voivodship gathered in large numbers at the Astrofestival in Marina Grudziądz, which, as every year, was one of the main events of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region Day celebrations.

For years, we have been combining the attractions of the Region’s Day with the astronomical traditions of the region, and the Astrofestival is one of the most interesting forms of family celebration,’ said Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

There were many attractions waiting for the participants, from scientific shows and workshops, through sky observations with telescopes, to interactive experiment zones. The youngest were delighted by inflatables inspired by Star Wars and a meeting with the ‘living’ Nicolaus Copernicus. The mobile planetarium was also very popular.

There was also a culinary surprise – a special space menu for young astronauts was prepared by renowned chef Mateusz Gessler, who personally served his dishes to the youngest participants.

As every year, the Astrofestival is organised in one of the presidential cities, this year hosted by Grudziądz. The event was organised by the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Centre for Education and Innovation in Toruń, and another science picnic is planned for September, details of which will be announced soon.

Also during this year’s celebration, over 600 students from 20 schools discovered the secrets of the universe at the Astrobaza Toruń science picnic. See: Astrobaza Toruń science picnic (photo gallery)
