Restoration of the railway line to Ciechocinek

At least eight pairs of trains will run regularly from Aleksandrów Kujawski to Ciechocinek from December. The regional government, which is the organiser of passenger rail transport in the region, chooses the carrier operating this line. Prior to the launch of the courses, the PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe (Polish Railways) company commissioned a major overhaul, which is being carried out by Pomorskie Przedsiębiorstwo Mechaniczno-Torowe.

This connection will become our calling card. We want to provide patients with the highest quality of service. The most modern rolling stock at our disposal will run to Ciechocinek. The investment is not only important for the functioning of the spa, it will also serve the residents of our region – emphasised Marshal Piotr Całbecki when signing the document.

After the renovation of the seven-kilometre Aleksandrów Kujawski – Ciechocinek railway line, trains will travel at speeds of up to 120 kilometres per hour. In addition to the rebuilding of the track, the platforms in Ciechocinek, Odolin and Aleksandrów Kujawski will be renewed with new shelters, benches and energy-efficient lighting. Railway traffic control and overhead line equipment will be modernised. Safety at level crossings will also be improved. The cost of the project is PLN 47 million.

The self-government of Ciechocinek undertook to build infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists, a car park and architectural elements to increase safety around the station.

The Kujawsko-Pomorskie voivodship local government is earmarking PLN 30 million to finance the Bydgoszcz-Toruń-Otłoczyn-Ciechocinek rail link over the next five years. The carrier selected in the tender will provide a minimum of eight pairs of trains from Ciechocinek to Aleksandrów Kujawski from 14 December. The trains will be air-conditioned, modern and adapted to carry bicycles.

People over 65 years of age will pay only PLN 4 for a ride on this route, and in the first month of operation, all passengers will pay only a symbolic PLN.

This year, the regional government is subsidising regional rail passenger transport with PLN 237 million. This amount includes the costs of compensation for Arriva and Polregio as well as the costs of access to railway infrastructure and station fees – PLN 31.3 million.

Thanks to the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Tariff, we have been keeping the cost of ticket purchase unchanged for several years – PLN 4.10 for the first 10 kilometres, this price increases by 21 groszy for each subsequent kilometre.
