Vice-Minister of Culture Visits Opera Nova, the Pomeranian Philharmonic, and the Copernicus Library
At the Marshal’s Office and leading cultural institutions, we hosted Vice-Minister Marta Cienkowska from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, who is responsible, among other things, for matters related to European funding.
In the morning, Vice-Minister Cienkowska, accompanied by Vice-Marshal Zbigniew Ostrowski, visited Opera Nova and the Pomeranian Philharmonic. She was particularly interested in ongoing and planned investments – the ongoing expansion of the opera and the Philharmonic’s development, currently in an advanced planning stage. The meetings were attended by the directors of both institutions, Maciej Figas and Maciej Puto.
In Toruń, the Vice-Minister met with Marshal Piotr Całbecki at the Marshal’s Office, where they discussed, among other topics, the development of cultural infrastructure and public funding for the cultural sector. Our guest also visited the Copernicus Library, where she reviewed the plans and current status of its ongoing expansion project and viewed one of the library’s most valuable manuscripts – the so-called Corvina Codex (Epistola de laudibus augustae bibliothecae atque libri quatuor versibus scripti eodem argumento ad serenissimum Mathiam Corvinum Panoniae regem), a 4th-century-style poetic catalog of illuminated manuscripts from the renowned Bibliotheca Corviniana.
