37 new rail connections from June

More than four hundred thousand kilometres will be travelled by additional trains, which will take to the tracks in June after the so-called mid-year timetable adjustment. The changes are the response of the regional government, which is the organiser of rail passenger transport in the region, to the demands and suggestions of residents. – The new connections will be used by passengers on non-electrified lines operated by Arriva – informed Piotr Całbecki, the Marshall of the voivodeship, at today’s (28 April) press conference. The meeting with journalists was also attended by the Deputy Marshall of the voivodeship Aneta Jędrzejewska and representatives of the carrier.

We are launching thirty-seven new regular regional rail connections. We have an interesting and rich offer of connections tailored to the needs of travellers. The regional government maintains over three hundred connections a day. Thanks to good co-operation with the carriers, we are managing to build an increasingly better network of rail connections step by step,’ stressed Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

In June, we will launch new connections, among others to Hel and to Bydgoszcz, Grudziądz, Lipno, Chełmża (Toruń poviat), Skępe (Lipno poviat) and Tlenia (Świecie poviat). The additional trains will have travelled 430,000 kilometres by the end of the year, at a cost of 12.5 million zł.

To the sea and the Tuchola Forest

On 19 June, the first seasonal direct daily train to Hel will depart from Bydgoszcz Główna station, stopping at popular holiday resorts on the Hel Peninsula and at Tricity railway stations. The residents of Grudziądz will also benefit from the connection, with an additional train arriving at Laskowice Pomorskie to change trains.

Also new in the summer timetable is the ‘Borsuk’ train, which will travel daily from Toruń through the picturesque Tuchola Forest and the Wdecki Landscape Park to Czersk (Pomorskie Voivodeship), stopping, among others, at stations in Tleń and Osie.

On the first day of the holidays, the seasonal weekend train ‘Rybitwa’ from Toruń to Kołobrzeg will return to the tracks. This offer will be complemented by another new direct train to Kołobrzeg – it will run on weekdays.

More trains

After the timetable changes, the number of trains on the Toruń – Lipno section will increase from six to ten pairs, and to Skępe from six to nine pairs. On the Bydgoszcz-Chełmża line, the number of connections will double – ten pairs of trains will travel daily instead of the previous five pairs. There will also be more connections to Grudziądz – an additional three from Toruń and two from Laskowice Pomorskie. One route from Toruń (at 13:57), which previously ended in Chełmża, will be extended to Grudziądz. The timetable will also include new connections between Tuchola and Bydgoszcz.

In 2025, the regional government will subsidise regional passenger transport with PLN 237 million.

The regional government also owns 75 per cent of the trains operating passenger services in our region. We have thirty-three vehicles at our disposal.
