PLN 85 million for activities for seniors
Sports activities, handicraft workshops, foreign language learning, integration meetings, trips to cinemas and theatres – the Marshall’s civic budget allocates PLN 85 million for the creation of senior citizens’ clubs and the implementation of projects aimed at older residents of the region. Grants are awarded through local action groups.
– A diverse offer addressed to seniors is a response to the growing needs of this social group, which increasingly wants to spend its time after working life actively. This is made possible, among other things, by the funds we provide to local action groups for the operation of seniors‘ clubs and the organisation of interesting activities, recreational and educational meetings,’ emphasises Marshal Piotr Całbecki.
The main objective of the activities selected for funding is to protect the elderly from mentally and physically degrading isolation and social exclusion, but because the emphasis here is on social integration, there is plenty of room for activities involving all members of the local community. Members of the senior citizens’ clubs will participate in, among other things, artistic, educational and passion-developing workshops, physical activities and activities to promote a healthy lifestyle, training in computer skills, protection against fraud and cyber threats.
Local action groups have so far signed grant agreements totalling PLN 7 million. Thanks to these funds, 87 senior citizens’ clubs offering interesting activities will be set up in communes that are members of the LAG Miasta Włocławka, LAG “Dla Miasta Torunia”, LAG Ziemia Gotyku, LAG Chełmno, LAG “Dolina Drwęcy” and LAG “Vistula-Terra Culmensis – Rozwój Przez Tradycję”.
Further Local Action Groups have announced calls for proposals.
The maximum level of co-financing that municipalities and institutions of the third sector may apply for is 95% of the project value, the maximum grant is PLN 100,000.

The first group of projects relates specifically to activities for seniors, and the second to support young people.
