Hereditas Saeculorum medals for the protection of historic monuments

Until the end of April, we are accepting applications for the ‘Heritage of the Ages’ competition, which awards prizes for special achievements in the conservation and restoration of historic buildings in our region.

The Hereditas Saeculorum medals are an expression of recognition and gratitude to those who are involved in the preservation of our material cultural heritage. We want to promote activities and achievements in this field that serve to cultivate the memory of the region’s history and art,’ says Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

The distinctions will be awarded in two categories:

  • the first category – applications may be submitted by owners, holders and managers of historic buildings, local government units, associations and foundations for the protection and care of historic buildings, conservation services, museums and universities;
  • in the second, applications may be submitted by individuals, institutions and organisations.

The medal ceremony will be held as part of the regional celebrations of the European Heritage Days 2025.

Last year, we awarded medals for restoring the historic appearance of the garden and interiors of the Wiktor Kulerski Municipal Library building in Grudziądz and for the restoration of a medieval defensive wall in Inowrocław. For special achievements related to the care and protection of historical monuments, the award was received by Piotr Nowakowski, director of the Museum of Kujawska and Dobrzyńska Land in Włocławek.
