
Weekend with culture
Concerts, exhibitions, theatre and opera performances fill the calendar of the weekend’s cultural proposals prepared by the Marshall’s institutions. Among the proposals are also those on the occasion of Women’s Day.
On Friday (7 March), the Pomeranian Philharmonic invites to the concert ‘An American in Paris’. The programme includes, in addition to the title composition by George Gershwin, works by Władysław Szpilman, Henryk Wars and Alexey Shor. The Symphony Orchestra of the Pomeranian Philharmonic conducted by Michał Klausa and violinist Mariusz Patyra will perform.
On Sunday (9 March), the ‘3in1 Concert’. Capella Bydgostiensis conducted by Piotr Pławner and flutist Zofia Neugebauer will perform Joseph Haydn’s Violin Concerto in G major, Saverio Mercadante’s Flute Concerto in E minor and Antonio Vivaldi’s Flute Concerto in G major.
Opera Nova’s opera The Servant Mistress, directed by Jerzy Jan Polonski, returns to the Opera Nova stage. Giovanni Battista Pergolesi’s masterpiece will be presented in the formula of an immersive performance, during which the instrumental ensemble of the Opera Nova orchestra will sit in the audience and the audience will be in the middle of the performance. ‘The Servant Mistress’ will be performed on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (7, 8 and 9 March).
‘Shapes of the Past. The diversity of female images in the light of archaeology’ is the title of the next “Encounters with Archaeology”, which will take place on Saturday (8 March) in the Museum House on the grounds of the Archaeological Museum in Biskupin. The lecture will be given by archaeologist Klaudyna Bronowska, who will also lead a workshop.
The Lubostroń Palace invites you to a concert on the occasion of Women’s Day. On Sunday (9 March) in the rotunda hall, the following will perform: singers Jacek Greszta (bass) and Jakub Pawłowski (tenor), pianists Marek Kamola and Artur Pilch, and students of the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz in the singing class. The programme includes opera arias, operetta arias and songs from popular musicals.
Actress, director and theatre instructor Anna Magalska will lead a workshop for women at the Horzyca Theatre on Sunday (9 March), during which participants will learn ways of effective self-presentation. From Thursday to Sunday (6-9 March) at the Horzyca Theatre, ‘The Career of Nikodem Dyzma’.
The Wozownia Art Gallery will host a meeting with the painter, architect, interior designer and set designer Daria Pietryka, who will talk about the idea behind the ‘Things That Were’ exhibition on Saturday (8 March) in conversation with gallery director Jacek Świderski.
The regional government runs 17 cultural institutions that offer a wide repertoire of cultural proposals.
