Regional railroad will connect Brodnica with Rypin

At least six pairs of trains will operate regional government-funded regular passenger services on the Rypin-Brodnica line from December 2026. A railroad station will be built in place of the existing stop in Rypin. The investment will be carried out by PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe. A construction project is currently being prepared.

Railroad connections in our region are being used by more and more travelers. In 2024, this mode of transport was chosen by 8 million passengers. The regional government is consistently taking steps to increase this number,” stresses Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

A new platform will be built in Rypin, and the existing one will be modernized. New benches, shelters and showcases will appear. The height of the platforms will also change, making it easier to board trains. There are also plans to rebuild the tracks. This will allow passenger trains to run at speeds of up to 120 kilometers per hour. Thanks to the investment, train courses will be able to start and end in Rypin.

Construction work, which will be carried out by Zakład Robót Komunikacyjnych Dom from Poznań, will start in the second half of the year. The procedure for obtaining administrative decisions and permits is currently underway.

The investment will also include the modernization of two railroad crossings: along Mławska Street and on the road connecting Galczynski Street with industrial areas. Traffic signals and horns will be installed. The work is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2026.

Preparations for the reactivation of the railroad line will also include the construction of a stop with the working name Brodnica Fabryczna. The undertaking has been added to the basic list of the government’s Program for Construction or Modernization of Railway Stops for 2021-2025. The stop will most likely be built in the area of the rail-road crossing on Witosa Street.

A tender for rail service to Rypin will be announced in the first quarter.

Currently, only one pair of “Flisak” trains from Gdynia-Katowice PKP InterCity runs through Ripin.

The current timetable includes a direct daily Bydgoszcz-Szczecin rail service, co-financed by the Kujawsko-Pomorskie, Wielkopolskie and Zachodniopomorskie voivodship governments.
