Children Love Us

The main beneficiaries of the XIII Marshal’s Charity Ball are the Special Educational Center of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Elizabeth in Grudziądz and the Foundation for Dorota Targowska and Her Friends, Dorotkowo in Toruń. The ball will take place on Saturday, January 18, at the Cultural and Congress Center Jordanki in Toruń. We present their activities.

The Special Educational Center of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Elizabeth in Grudziądz helps boys with intellectual disabilities and special educational needs by conducting rehabilitative, educational, therapeutic, and revalidation activities. The center’s staff takes care of 43 boys from various backgrounds, aged from six to twenty-four years old. The children participate in individual and group activities, receive help with schoolwork, and acquire practical skills. Through vocational education, the youth also prepare for adult life.

The Foundation for Dorota Targowska and Her Friends, Dorotkowo, supports the treatment and rehabilitation of people with disabilities, particularly those with Down syndrome, and helps their families. The foundation focuses on functional therapy, preparing its beneficiaries to function in society. It teaches young children how to manage money, run a household, and manage time. “We teach this to children as young as preschool age, and thanks to this, there is a chance that people with intellectual disabilities will be able to function in our society as adults,” says the foundation’s president, Katarzyna Minczykowska-Targowska.
