100 Million PLN for Road Investments Around Mogilno
This year, over 100 million PLN will be allocated to modernizing regional roads around Mogilno. Among the key projects are the next phase of reconstructing Regional Road No. 255, connecting Strzelno with Pakość, continuing work on the construction of the Mogilno bypass, and modernizing Regional Road No. 254, which links Mogilno with Barcin.
“We are not only modernizing but also constructing new sections of roads in Kujawy and Pomorze, creating a functional transportation network throughout the region,” emphasizes Marshal Piotr Całbecki. “Thanks to bypasses that redirect heavy trucks away from city centers, streets can continue to serve local traffic, pedestrians, and cyclists. Completing the Mogilno bypass will help achieve this goal.”
The Regional Self-Government has allocated the largest portion of funds (over 72 million PLN) for the construction of the second phase of the Mogilno bypass. The newly constructed 1.5-kilometer section of Regional Road No. 254 will connect the existing roundabout in Świerkówiec with the town of Żabno. This will enable the diversion of transit traffic from the southern part of Mogilno as well. The investment includes a 220-meter viaduct over the Panna River, ground stabilization with concrete piles for weak soils, a new four-leg roundabout with sidewalks and pedestrian crossings at the junction with the existing regional road and the local road to Bystrzyca, construction of wildlife passages, planting over 200 trees and nearly 2,000 shrubs around the road and the construction of a road measurement station with cameras.
Earthworks and stormwater drainage installation are currently underway. The site was previously examined by archaeologists. The investment is being carried out using funds from the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021-2027. The project is part of the “Bypasses Under Construction” initiative.
Regional Road No. 255: Upgrades and Bypass Development
The next phase of modernization of Regional Road No. 255 (Strzelno to Pakość) will involve rebuilding a three-kilometer section between Rzadkwin and Bławaty. This will include constructing a new road foundation and building shoulders, bus bays, and illuminated crossings and stops. The project has a budget allocation of 22 million PLN, and preparations for a tender are underway.
Additionally, two high-risk intersections along this road will be converted into roundabouts in Broniewice, at the intersection with the road to Janikowo and in Rzadkwin, at another key junction. These upgrades, with an estimated cost of 18 million PLN, are part of the regionsl road safety program, co-funded by the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021–2027.
Regional Road No. 254: Ongoing Modernization
Modernization of Regional Road No. 254 (Mogilno to Barcin) continues. In 2025, the focus will be on resurfacing a four-kilometer stretch between Dąbrowa and Wiecanowo. The project include road shoulders and updated signage. The budget for this segment is over 6 million PLN. Earlier work included improvements on stretches such as Brzoza-Łabiszyn-Barcin and Żabno-Wylatowo.
Other significant projects include resurfacing a four-kilometer section of Regional Road No. 262 between Dzierzążno and Procyń (budget: 4 million PLN) and finalizing documentation for the Trląg bypass on Road No. 255, with a tender expected in the first half of the year.
Record Road Investments
A total of 2 billion PLN will be invested in regional road modernization in the coming years. The Kujawy and Pomorze Regional Program 2021–2027 allocates 136 million EUR for road investments, including bypass construction. Additional funding of approximately 170 million PLN for bypasses and 450 million PLN for other road developments has been secured from central sources.
Current key projects include:
- modernizing Regional Road No. 268 from Brzezie to Brześć Kujawski.
- upgrading Regional Road No. 563 from Rypin to the regional border.
- building the Mogilno bypass (Regional Road No. 254).
